This is D., one of the sweetest creatures I’ve ever met, belonging to someone that I care very, very much about (who requested that they remain anonymous). D has had some strange growths on her skin and been generally sick recently, and this week it was confirmed that they are mast cell tumors, that are not only on her skin, but also her intestines. The good news is, she has a surgery scheduled (which will then apparently determine whether chemo and radiation are necessary). The bad news is, the (primary) owner has had one of the worst months of their lives, including the death of another pet and a car accident that occurred on the same day, and is now in the position of not knowing how they’re going to pay for all of this treatment. The vet is amazing and not requiring a massive downpayment pre-surgery, but the estimates they gave state that it’s going to be at least $1000 because it’s invasive, and chemo and radiation, if necessary, could be another $1-2,000+.
Asking strangers for help is hard and a really big deal (hence the reason the owners asked to be anonymous, because they feel like they’re failing a member of their family by not being able to afford treatment on their own), but if you could donate anything it would be a huge, huge help and all of us will be eternally grateful.

I’m not even a dog person but it breaks my heart that D and her family are going through this, and I want to do everything that I can to help. I’ll update Monday evening post-surgery, and as soon as I know anything else. (I also apologize for how ineloquent this is, I’m currently exhausted.)
